🎶🤶🎤BHS CAROLERS SPREAD HOLIDAY CHEER: To kick off the start of winter break, Barrington High School singers caroled for students and staff at the schools across our district! Jingle bell time was a swell time at Nayatt School, Primrose Hill Elementary School, Sowams School, Hampden Meadows Elementary School, and Barrington Middle School! Thank you to our BHS Music Department and singers for spreading the holiday cheer!

🏥💟🧸 HMS STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN GOOD NIGHT LIGHTS: Hampden Meadows School students spent the last two months collecting 194 toys for children at Hasbro Childrens Hospital. Last night, after the conclusion of their toy drive, the HMS Student Council participated in Hasbro’s “Good Night Lights” event! From outside the hospital, they wished children inside a "good night" by flashing glow sticks and flashlights. Our students learned that they can make a difference in our community by working together and supporting others. Way to go, Hampden Meadows!

🍅🥦🎅INTERACT CLUB DONATES TO TAPIN: The Barrington High School Interact Club raised nearly $1,400 at the BHS Homecoming Fair in October and recently donated these funds to TapIn! Way to go, Interact Club! This donation will help TapIn provide fresh produce for our community members during the holiday season.

🎨🖌️🖼️ BHS STUDENT’S ARTWORK RECEIVES NATIONAL RECOGNITION: Congratulations to Barrington High School student, Ajax, whose artwork was recently selected by the College Board to appear in a national art exhibition! This year, the AP Art and Design Exhibit features the artwork of 50 students chosen from more than 80,000 who took AP 2D Design last school year. Ajax’s drawing, titled “Acceptance,” was made entirely with markers on paper and will be on display in the national art show throughout 2025. Way to go, Ajax! 🎉👏🏻

💡👩‍🏫🏆HAMPDEN MEADOWS RECEIVES LIGHTHOUSE RECOGNITION: Last spring, Hampden Meadows Elementary School was named a Lighthouse School by Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence based on 9 categories including student support, organization and culture, challenging curriculum, and educational vitality. Principal Sangiuliano recently attended the BRSE 2024 National Conference in Orlando, Florida, where he was presented with the Lighthouse Award on behalf of HMS! Congratulations, Hampden Meadows!

🎭🎬👛BHS STAGEMASTERS PRESENT ANNIE: Congratulations to the Barrington High School Stagemasters for a successful and well-attended run of Annie! Our community greatly enjoyed a weekend of performances. We are very fortunate to have so many talented students at Barrington High School! Way to go, Stagemasters! 👏

🏈🍗🔥BHS EAGLE BOWL THROWBACK THURSDAY: What's a Thanksgiving in Barrington without the annual bonfire and Eagle Bowl at Barrington High School? Last Tuesday night, the BHS Class of 2026 faced off against the Class of 2025 in an exciting juniors v. seniors flag football game. The recent arrival of much-needed rain allowed the bonfire to go off without a hitch. Thanks to BHS teacher Mr. Scott for helping to organize the event and to the Eagles football team for helping unload and stack pallets for the bonfire. 🎈🎈🎈BALLOONS OVER PRIMROSE: Last week, on the day before Thanksgiving, Primrose Hill Elementary School hosted its own version of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade! Inspired by Melissa Sweet's book, Balloons Over Broadway, students used skills and knowledge they learned in ELA, science, and art to design and construct three-dimensional floats for the "Balloons over Primrose" procession. Thank you to our Primrose community for challenging our students and making learning fun!

🥇🦅🏐BHS GIRLS JV VOLLEYBALL TEAM WINS STATE CHAMPIONSHIP: Congratulations are in order for the Barrington High School girls JV volleyball team! After a very impressive season, the Eagles won the Rhode Island Interscholastic League Division II JV State Championship! 🎉 It was a clean title sweep for BHS volleyball this season, with our varsity, JV, and unified volleyball teams winning state championships in November. 👏

🥪👩‍⚕️🐾ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS OFFER LUNCH & LEARN PROGRAMMING: Community partnerships are key to enhancing our students' growth and development. "Lunch and Learn" is an elementary school enrichment program that allows students to learn from members of our community and explore their own interests during lunch! Recently, third graders at Nayatt School learned about career paths in veterinary science from BPS parent and feline veterinarian, Dr. Karen Lovelace! 🥗🌿♻️GOVERNOR MCKEE VISITS HAMPDEN MEADOWS: Last week, Governor Dan McKee and Mrs. McKee visited Hampden Meadows Elementary School as part of their Litter Free Rhode Island initiative. They saw the wonderful things our Green Team and Composting Club are working on to make HMS more sustainable and environmentally friendly like collecting food scraps at lunch, transferring scraps to the compost bin, aerating compost, and picking up litter. 🏅📚💙SOWAMS SCHOOL STAFF ATTEND AWARDS CEREMONY: In September, the U.S. Department of Education recognized Sowams School as a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence. Principal Callahan and Mrs. Squatrito, K-3 math specialist, traveled down to Washington, DC, last week to attend the National Blue Ribbon Schools Awards Ceremony and officially accept the award on behalf of Sowams School. 🔵🦅🥳BHS CLASS OF 1974 CELEBRATES REUNION: The Barrington High School Class of 1974 recently celebrated its 50th reunion at the Bristol Yacht Club with 68 class members in attendance! Some members of the class toured Barrington High School before the reunion and current BHS students sold Eagles gear to alumni during the event. You know what they say: Once an Eagle, always an Eagle! 🦅

🇺🇸🎖️🧑‍✈️BPS CELEBRATES LOCAL VETERANS: Barrington Public Schools is closed today, November 11, in observance of Veterans Day. To celebrate and thank local veterans for their service, Hampden Meadows Elementary School students created cards and notes of thanks and delivered them to the Rhode Island Veterans Home.

🐛🍄🌼STUDENTS HELP LAND TRUST CREATE TEACHING GARDEN AT BMS: BPS student members of the Barrington Land Conservation Trust's Student Stewardship Team recently planted 275 native pollinator plants to create a new teaching garden at Barrington Middle School. The pollinator garden will be a place where students can learn about local habitats and the importance of pollinators. Connor, a senior at Barrington High School, adopted the garden as his senior project and spent many hours digging out invasive species and preparing the garden for planting. A generous donation from Stormwater Innovation Center and Prickly Ed's Cactus Patch Native Plant Emporium provided the plants for this garden. 🎸🎶🎤SECOND GRADERS PARTICIPATE IN SONGWRITING WORKSHOP: Award-winning performer Keith Munslow recently visited our Barrington elementary schools thanks to a generous grant from the Barrington Education Foundation! After a fun performance, our second graders at Primrose Hill Elementary School, Sowams School, and Nayatt School participated in a songwriting workshop hosted by Keith Munslow. They even helped him compose a song! 🎼🎹✍️ Thank you, BEF, for providing this opportunity for our students!
