What is New at BMS! (note: the following information is new) | ||||||||||
BMS Winter Workouts: It's time to sign up for Winter Workouts so we can have fun and work on fitness! Please use this link to sign up. Please have your student bring this waiver to their first practice. Click here for a flier with more information! Workouts are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:15 to 4:15 pm starting January 17. | ||||||||||
BMS Family Learning Walks: New dates out for BMS Family Learning Walks! Family Learning Walks are opportunities for families to tour the building and see teaching/learning in action. Families may or may not see their own child’s classrooms. If you are interested in attending a walk, please sign up here for ONE of the walks below (first-come, first-served basis). Space will be limited to 15 individuals per visit. A confirmation email will be sent to individuals confirming their participation.

BMS Winter Enrichment Offerings: BMS is offering a number of before or after school enrichment opportunities this winter. The cost is $80 per class, space is limited. Registration opens tonight at 6:00 pm on myschoolbucks.com.

BMS 8th Grade Dental Screening Dr. Theodore Drummond D.M.D., dentist for the Barrington Public Schools, will be conducting our yearly 8th grade dental screening at BMS on 02/08/23, as required by the Rhode Island Rules and Regulations for School Health Programs. If your child receives routine dental care from a private dentist, your child does not need to participate in the dental screening, however you must submit the dentist name and date of examination on this form to decline the screening. COVID-19 protocols will be followed to ensure safety during screenings. BMS Lost and Found Items: The BMS lost and found is overflowing! A team of awesome parent volunteers organized the items in our Student Union (cafeteria). Please send your student to check it out if you are missing something! Unclaimed items will be donated on February 1, 2023. Check out the pictures of the items here! | ||||||||||
BMS Best Buddies T-Shirt Fundraiser: Order your Best Buddies Barrington t-shirts! Feel free to order shirts for the whole family.

Lions Club Art Award: Every year, the International Lions Club organization sponsors a Peace Poster contest for middle school-aged students to participate in. This year’s theme was Lead with Compassion; to explore and visually express the peaceful future that compassionate leadership brings. 6th grader, Blakely Hendrick's poster design won first place for the town of Barrington thru the Barrington Lions Club and was sent to regionals where she won second place! Blakely won a certificate, a cash prize, and a t-shirt with her beautiful design on it. Great work Blakely!

Drop-off/Pick-up Instructions: If you choose to drop-off and pick-up your student from BMS, please see this map for directions. Please note that the last early dismissal of the day is at 2:45 pm. | ||||||||||
Early Pick-Up Reminders: Notes or emails to bmsattendance@barringtonschools.org are needed every time you need to dismiss your student prior to the end of school. Middle School level students are not allowed to bike home, even with permission by note. ID and a physical presence is required to dismiss your student early. BMS Spotlight on Learning: This week we would like to shine our BMS Spotlight on Colleen Deluski. Colleen is an exceptional leader for the Special Education Department. Colleen has worked tirelessly to help improve programming and service delivery for students with IEPs. She is a tremendous voice for the Special Education teachers as she is a fierce advocate for their needs so that they can continue to provide the best support and specially designed instruction for their students. Finally, Mrs. Deluski is a fantastic teacher and her work with the Blue Cluster and the Alternative Learning Program has had a major impact on student learning. Community COVID Booster Clinic: There will be a Barrington bivalent COVID-19 booster clinic on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at Barrington Middle School from 4:30-7:00 pm. This clinic will be open to all community members age 5+ who have completed their primary covid series. Online registration is required.
