8th Grade DC Field Trip Parent Information Meeting:

We are in the beginning stages of planning the annual spring 8th grade field trip to DC and will be holding an informational parent/guardian meeting on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at 7:00 pm in the BMS Auditorium.  We are asking parents/guardians to attend this important meeting as we will be sharing information about the trip and receiving input from families on the direction of the trip.  This will be an in-person meeting.  If your child is thinking about attending the field trip, please consider attending this important meeting.

BMS Prevention Education Series:

We are pleased to inform you that a Prevention Education Series (PES) will be offered to all 7th and 8th grade students. This series consists of four sessions designed to provide valuable coping skills and educational resources aimed at preventing substance use, specifically focusing on the risks associated with alcohol and drugs during the adolescent years.

The sessions will be delivered in your child’s classroom by our Student Assistance Counselor,  Mrs. Gilda Johnson, who is certified to teach essential topics to equip students with the knowledge and strategies needed to make informed, healthy choices. This evidence-based series will serve as a positive and impactful addition to your child’s education.

If you prefer that your child does not participate in the Prevention Education Series, please notify Mrs. Gilda Johnson at:  johnsong@barringtonschools.org by November 10, 2024 so that arrangements can be made for your child to opt out of these sessions.

~ Spotlight on Learning ~

This week, we would like to shine our BMS Spotlight on Allston Leonard. Allston is one of the most amazing community members I have had the pleasure of teaching. He is so kind to his peers and so helpful. He greets his teachers each morning with a pleasant "hello" and says thank you at the end of each class. During the recent absence of a teacher assistant, Allston stepped in to help his peer who needed assistance with his work. Everyone should look to him as a role model of what great character and citizenship looks like. (Nominated by a member of the BMS Learning Community).

This week, we would like to shine our BMS Spotlight on Mrs. Anderson. She always makes lessons fun, and she is easygoing. Although the lessons are fun, we still get things done . (Nominated by Thalia Baillie)

This week, we would like to shine our BMS Spotlight on Mrs. Armstrong and Mrs. Dion. They are working together to keep the Middle school music program up and running. (Nominated by a member of our BMS Learning Community)

Do you know of a BMS Faculty/Staff/Student member who is shining bright? If you do, please complete the form below and we can include the nomination in an upcoming newsletter.
