BMS Spotlight on Learning!

This week we would like to shine our BMS Spotlight on Ellie Capizzo. A very simple act of kindness. Ellie was on her way to class and was quite a distance away when she spotted a student fall and drop everything in her hands. Ellie stopped what she was doing and went right over to check on the student and made sure she was okay before two staff members came over to check on the student also. I know this is a simple thing but it was wonderful to see as Ellie could have easily kept walking in the opposite direction, as she was so far away. Keep shining bright Ellie. (Nominated by Mr. Moran)

This week we would like to shine our BMS Spotlight on Mrs. Dalessio. She has had to go through a lot of changes in her cluster this year. She went through two math teachers and a new science teacher, all the while with a smile on her face and a DoL Sentence or two on the projector. Thank you, Mrs. Dalessio! (Nominated by Purple Cluster Student Izzy Alves).

This week we would like to shine our BMS Spotlight on Mrs. Nacci. Mrs. Nacci is an amazing ELA teacher who makes everything fun! She is understanding, caring and respectful towards all of her students. (Nominated by an Orange Cluster student).

This week we would like to shine our BMS Spotlight on Ms. Gower. She deserves it because she works really hard, and provides an excellent and necessary education. She also deserves it because she tries to make class fun, which is why P.E. is one of the best-liked subjects. (Nominated by a BMS Student)

BMS Community Service:

The Community Service Club is on a mission to create a special feeling at BMS by brightening the days of people less fortunate in our surrounding communities.  Every homeroom has received 10 gift bags that we are hoping can be filled with holiday gifts.  The bags are small so we are looking for items such as gloves, mittens, gum, candy, writing utensils, small pads, chapstick, etc.

We thought the 6th graders could bring in new items for children 10 and under.

                          7th graders:  items for teens

                          8th graders:  items for adults

We're hoping you will be creative, thoughtful, and supportive of this endeavor.  If all the bags are filled, we will be making 330 people a little bit happier at this special time of the year!! Your support will help us make this goal a reality.  Deadline for donations is Friday, December 10.

BMS Book Club:

Join us on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at 8 AM in the BMS Library to chat about A Place to Hang the Moon by Kate Albus. The author will meet with us virtually, read a passage from the book, and answer some of our questions. Sign up here

Write for Rights Amnesty International program:

Each year, Amnesty International hosts a global event called Write for Rights where hundreds of thousands of people worldwide write letters on behalf of prisoners of conscience, human rights defenders, and others at risk of human rights violations. If you are interested in the opportunity to participate and make a difference in the world on a global scale then you can join the high school's gender equality club in writing to government officials for different individuals who have been unjustly imprisoned and seek justice for human rights. The “Write for Rights Night” event will be on December 15th from 3:20-4:10 in the Cafeteria. Please click here for more information.
