~ BMS Current and Relevant News ~

RICAS ELA Review:

We would like to express our sincere gratitude for the tremendous effort our students put forth during the recent RICAS ELA assessments. Your focus, perseverance, and positive attitudes throughout the testing period were truly impressive and reflect the wonderful learning community we've built together. While these assessments provide valuable information about academic progress, please remember that they represent just one moment in time and are not a complete measure of a student's knowledge, abilities, or future potential. We are proud of how our students approached this challenge with determination and courage, regardless of the outcomes. Our school community celebrates each of you as whole individuals with unique talents, interests, and strengths that extend far beyond what any single test can measure.

Family Engagement Day!

Please mark it on your calendar that Family Engagement Day is scheduled for Monday, April 28, 2025, from 8:40 am to 3:15 pm. This day is a wonderful opportunity for students and families to come to the school to engage in student-led portfolio reviews. Students will be sharing their portfolios with their families, highlighting the work they have accomplished this year. Please note that this day is not a school day for students, but rather, students and families will select a time to come to school based on a signup process and only come to school during that time.

In the coming week, please be on the lookout for a signup to select a time to come to school!

Supporting our Annual Trip to Washington, DC: Jack Pot Raffle

On Thursday, April 10, 2025, every student at the middle school will be going home with a letter and three raffle tickets to sell to participate in our Washington, DC Jackpot Raffle. The drawing will be scheduled for May 9, 2025.

Our 8th graders are $10,000 away from achieving their goal! Our hope is that if everyone in the school participates in this final push, we will reach our goal! Any additional money raised will be used to help send off our 8th graders in our year end celebrations!

If anyone should like more tickets, please contact the main office at Barrington Middle School.

All Gen Video Game Competition Fundraiser:

Bitmask Games, a game development studio above Barrington Books, will be hosting an All-Gen Video Game Competition designed for all ages. Participants will square off in video game challenges from the last 40 years of gaming! Parents are highly encouraged to show their kids how we used to do it! The fee to enter the competition and be eligible for prizes and ultimate bragging rights is $25 per contestant, and proceeds go to helping BMS students get to DC.

The event will be Sunday, April 13th and will see waves of players starting at 11 am competing for glory. Tickets can be purchased through Bitmask Games at www.BitmaskGames.com
